DESCRIPTION: The aim of this video is to disseminate information about the traditional sports and games (TSG) of Indigenous peoples, thereby contributing to cultural diversity and humanity’s cultural heritage. This interview addresses the challenges and best practices associated with TSG, viewing them as a positive example in the implementation of the United Nations Declaration in the context of the 2025 session of the UN Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues (UNPFII).
Marcos Terena, a leader with an international profile, launched the “First Indigenous Peoples’ Games of Brazil” in 1996—an initiative that continue today. Later, the World Indigenous Games of 2015 and 2017 held unique significance for advancing rights and served as a global catalyst, helping to consolidate an international movement.
